Meet our team
Ken and Christine Waddell, publishers and owners of and the Neepawa Banner & Press. Ken and Christine have been involved with publishing full-time for nearly 25 years. Ken has an extensive background in agriculture and politics at all three levels of government. He and his wife Christine own the Neepawa Banner & Press and . They live in Neepawa, have two sons and four grandchildren.
Kay De'Ath is the 'numbers' person who looks after the bookkeeping duties for all three operations and oversees all the paper distribution and delivery tracking. She and her husband farm at Neepawa and are best known for their honey farm. In fact, you can buy Dale and Kay's Bees' honey at the Neepawa Banner store in downtown Neepawa.
Sandra Unger is a person of many talents at The Neepawa Banner. Our walk-in and phone-in customers are likely to be greeted by her. She handles front desk and classified ad duties as well as quick-print and regular print jobs.
Gloria Kerluke is one of the smiling faces you'll see when you walk into the Banner's front office. She wears many hats, from answering phone calls and helping walk-in customers, to keeping track flyer bookings and working with Kay on the bookkeeping end.
Diane Warner has been a part of the Banner & Press team for six years, working as a graphic artist and photographer. Diane builds ads, creates print job orders and does helps out with her wide range of expertise.
Eoin Devereux has been a familar part of western 水果视频's media circuit for almost 20 years. He has worked as a news reporter and on-air talent for CKLQ/Star FM in Brandon and CFRY/Mix 96.5 FM in Portage la Prairie. SInce 2014, he has been a part of print journalism, working for the Banner & Press as a News/Sports reporter.
Casper Wehrhahn is a long-time and returned resident of the Neepawa community. Prior to working at the Banner & Press, Casper attended ACC for two years studying Interactive Media Arts. At the Banner they tackle writing, photography and archival work. You can see their work each week in the Looking Back section and other pages of the paper.
Rita Friesen is a long-time columnist and casual reporter for The Neepawa Banner and Rivers Banner. Rita is a lay minister at the United Church and still works part-time at a local business. She lives in Neepawa and is well-known and respected in the community.
Neil Strohschein is a former staff person with The Neepawa Banner and continues to have a weekly column in The Neapawa Banner and Rivers Banner. Neil is well known as a pulpit supply pastor and preacher and his biblically based take on life is well read and a mainstay of the papers' opinion pages.
Helen Drysdale is a cookbook author, caterer and food expert. When Helen's in the kitchen, everyone is well fed. Her cookbook, "Kiss Cooking: Keep it Simple Sweetie" is available for sale at The Neepawa Banner.
The Banner & Press has a number of part-time employees who do proofing and flyer stuffing and are a tremendous source of support to our business.
