Riverdale District Health Auxiliary feels we had a successful ethnic food court this year at the annual 水果视频 and Craft Sale. It was co-ordinated by Rivers and District Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, Sept. 20 and held at Riverdale Community Centre. Our numbers are down slightly but we sold out of most foods by 2 p.m. (The food court opened at noon; the sale opened at 11 a.m.). We were in a new area of the rink this year which allowed us easier access for bringing food down from upstairs. The eating area was also bigger because of our new space.
Participating in this sale is one of our biggest fundraisers throughout the year. It is a lot of work, but our members work very hard to make it happen. As reported last week, besides the food court, we also sell baking, produce and raffle tickets. Leanne English made the three raffle draws; winners were Jena Bray ($50), Cameron Russell ($40) and Layton Veitch ($25). We are very fortunate to receive donations of baking, buns and produce from Deerboine Colony; their sticky buns are delicious and always sell out quickly.
We appreciate the support we receive from the Rivers area, people who visit our town, our members and those we call on to help us out. The money raised at this event will go a long way in helping our hospital, personal care home and rehab department. We purchase equipment and items needed that are not supplied by the government.
Thanks to all for making this a great year for the hospital auxiliary.
