Conference give students leadership skills

Youth from across the province converged on Neepawa for the annual 水果视频 Student Leadership Conference. The two-day event was held on Oct. 16 and 17 and involved 180 students from 31 schools attending a series of workshops to develop their leadership skills.

2014 MSLC Chairperson Dianne Nordstrom said this is the 26th year the conference has been held, with Neepawa hosting the event once before in 2003. She noted this year鈥檚 theme was 鈥淥rdinary People Have Extraordinary Powers鈥. 

鈥淭his was all about encouraging kids to step up and have the power of leadership,鈥 said Nordstrom. 鈥淔or them to build confidence and discover new ideas to make a difference in their own schools and communities.

Several special guest speakers also engaged the student leaders. Musician Robb Nash performed and shared his inspiring experiences as a means to encourage teens to make positive life choices. 

Non-profit groups Destination Imagination, the Siloam Mission and escape and stunt artist Scott Hammell also performed and participated in the conference.
