The Town of Neepawa wants to buy a new street sweeper. Administration is looking to purchase a 2014 model from Joe Johnson Equipment. The machine was previously used in Winnipeg and has 900 to 1000 service hours on it. Its estimated cost is $172,000 plus tax.
If purchased, the new sweeper would replace a 2002 model that has been in operation in Neepawa for several years. The Town could then sell the machine it currently owns for $15,000 to $20,000.
Neepawa manager of Operations Denis Saquet said the Town has $256,934.68 in its equipment replacement reserve account; so there is enough money set aside to make the purchase. There is currently no set timeline for the potential acquisition to be made.
