Council Clips - April 3.

RM of Oakview, March 24: The Roads and Drainage Committee discussed the placement of gravel on certain hills in Ward 3. Information received from public works regarding work to be done at Oak River Agriculture Society site was discussed.

A conditional use application by Dan and Shirley Leader for the establishment of a specialized agricultural activity (26-acre site) within the 鈥淎g鈥 zone by subdivision was approved for the southeast quarter of Section 14-13-19. A draft agreement and bylaw for request of a road closure in Block 31 Plan 28 Rapid City were reviewed and costs to be charged were discussed; a draft agreement of purchase of land will be sent to the owner of Block 31 Plan 28 for their review and signing before Oakview proceeds with a bylaw to close the public lane and authorize sale of land to the adjacent property owner.

Council reviewed several logo designs; Margo Eckberg and Bernice Finlay will be paid $50 for their designs which were partially chosen for the new logo. Of the six tenders received, council accepted that of: Les Moffat Inc. to load, haul and spread gravel in Wards 1 and 2; Gill Farms Ltd. to load, haul and spread gravel in Ward 3; Gill Farms Ltd. to load, haul and stockpile gravel from the McIntyre Pit to a road allowance.

A change of ownership of F. Kozak and Sons operations as of Jan. 1 was brought to the attention of council; gravel crushing tenders will be re-requested. CAO Diane Kuculym and her assistants were authorized to attend the 水果视频 Municipal Administrator鈥檚 convention in Brandon April 26-29; registration fees and related expenses will be paid and the offices closed if all staff attend the conference.

Council will buy 10 RM of Oakview signs from Airmaster Signs. Councillors Walt Froese and Kaye Wolstenholme were authorized to attend a weed control seminar to be held in Carberry on March 25 with registration being paid. Memembership with Tourism Westman was paid. The use of the council chamber at Rapid City for outside organizations was discussed; the board room in the new fire hall can be booked through Oakview鈥檚 Rapid City office for organizations to use for meetings.

Finances: Minnedosa Area Veterinary Services District was paid the first half of its levy, being $3,358.18. Membership of $300 was paid to Hudson Bay Route Association. Oak River Fire Department has asked to buy  fire department equipment and to sign up for Paging Unlimited; Council agreed to spend up to $1,000 on equipment. Accounts of $147,676.95 and unpaid invoices of $27,639.98 were passed for payment.
