Day of Pink at NACI raises awareness

On April 10, students at NACI participating in a bullying awareness day. Most students sporting pink shirts in support of the Red Cross鈥 鈥淒ay of Pink鈥 national bullying awareness campaign. The events and activities were put on by the school鈥檚 Peer Helpers.
The day began with a cyber bullying presentation for students in grades 6 to 8. Teacher Dale Swanton said that the students really listened to the presentation.
Throughout the day, students in grades six and seven made friendship bracelets with different colours of yarn symbolizing the their most values attributes in a friend.
At the end of the day, students in grade nine went to the gym for a presentation highlighting the power of numbers using a tug-of-war rope. While a bully can easily overpower their victim one-on-one, with the help of others, the victim becomes powerful.
