In conjunction with the Archdiocese of Winnipeg鈥檚 centennial, the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church in Rivers centred its annual spring tea around this theme. Decorations in the church basement reflected the centennial theme and colours; some ladies wore brightly-coloured T-shirts which they purchased after mass at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Instead of dainties being served at this year鈥檚 tea, a large anniversary cake, decorated with the centennial logo as shown here, was shared with everyone. Smal votive candles received at the centennial celebration in Winnipeg decorated the tables, along with bright blue and yellow centerpieces. Our president opened the tea with a prayer before guests enjoyed the lunch.
Guests also had the opportunity to win one of many prizes at the penny raffle, raffling of two grocery hampers, a spring basket and a mystery gift. Winners of the various raffles were: Kerri-Mae Mayor, kids craft, napkin holder, hummingbird feeder; Lorna Graham, oven mitts, dish cloths; Betty Frazer, fondue set; Marlene Hayhurst, flower pot, scarf, candle, gift certificate; Frances Young, bedding plants, spring basket; Bernice Kellett, wall sticker, T-shirt; Adrienne Beaudin, flower pot, large grocery hamper; Sherri Dziver, photo display, candles, ornament; Kaysi Dziver, solar lights; Patti Waterfield, plant stand, gloves; Justin Ventnor, toy tractor; Giselle Cudmore, cake pan and carrier; Elaine Hughes, cookbook; Jeanne Ventnor, glasses, chair covers, cookbook; Lou Altvater, glasses, pitcher, clock; Doreen Bate, photo album; Liliane Dupuis, solar light ornament; Jessie Bell, flower pot, soap; Julie Genaille, bedding plants; Barb Lelay, flower pot, gift certificate; Elizabeth Gneticki, cutting board, knives, cake server set; Dora Irvine, flower pot, scarves, mystery gift; Chic Lindberg, small grocery hamper.
