RM of Oakview Oct. 13:

The Building Committee has met with two contractors at the municipal shed in Oak River; a quote is to be received to repair the north wall. The new town foreman for Rapid City (Dennis Sinclair)started on Oct. 9. Recyclables have been removed from Rapid City and Oak River depots.

The Rapid City landfill is to be pushed back as soon as possible. Drainage north of Rapid City鈥檚 fire hall was discussed. Since November 2014  Assiniboine River Basin Initiative has been working to establish an organization where stakeholders work together to achieve environmental, social and economic sustainability for all residents through collaborative actions across the Assiniboine River Basin.

Funding (50 cents per capita)for the organization for 2016 was discussed and an invitation to attend a conference in Brandon in November was received. Staff Sergeant Bob Chabot was happy to report Oakview has very few calls for service. Rapid City Elementary Parent Group was given the information required to reduce the speed zone at Rapid City School.

Council is not prepared to enter into a recycling contract with Westman Recycling at this time. An interim water rate increase will be asked of Public Utilities Board regarding Rapid City due to water being purchased from Minto-Odanah and rates not increased to reflect that additional cost. John Thompson, Gord Paddock, Larry Cardy and Gail Bridgeman were all re-appointed for two-year terms as Oakview`s representatives to Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District鈥檚 subdistricts.

Minister of Finance was paid $6,263.26 as Oakview鈥檚 contribution to Family Services and Consumer Affairs. Contec Projects Limited will supply a new pump at Rapid City lift station for $3,250. Accounts of $487,178.53 and utility of $15,586.54 were passed for payment The next meeting is Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
