80 years ago, Friday November 1, 1935:
Chas. Ego has covered the floor of his new feed barn with green poplar blocks about 8 inches long which he claims from experience will give most satisfactory service. The blocks are wedged in tightly and sand is used to fill up the holes.
70 years ago, Thursday November 1, 1945:
According to the September 29th issue of 鈥淭he 水果视频 Gazette鈥� there are twenty-one individuals in town holding certificates of authority under 鈥渢he 水果视频 Insurance Act鈥� to sell life, fire, and miscellaneous insurance in town and district.
60 years ago, Thursday November 1, 1955:
Israel Asper, popular graduate of Neepawa Collegiate, has been selected as one of four students who will represent the University of 水果视频 at the McGoun Cup debate to be held January 20. Israel is now studying law, having graduated from 水果视频 University in 1954.
50 years ago, Tuesday November 2, 1965:
Neepawa Natives officially entered the Southwest Intermediate Hockey League Sunday, guaranteeing the fans here will be treated to an exciting brand of hockey this winter.
Playing in the north half of the newly divided league, the Natives will be opposed by McAuley, Foxwarren, Cardale, Minnedosa and Brandon College Caps. In the south half of the league, Pierson, Waskada, Reston, Boissevain, Souris and Deloraine Wheat Kings.
40 years ago, Thursday November 6, 1975:
Neepawa Lumber and Supply Limited acquired a new proprietor and a new name over the weekend when the business was transferred by its founder, William Tinkler, to John Antonik on Saturday November 1.
The firm will henceforth be known as Chimo Building Center. Mr. Antonik comes to Neepawa from Altona, 水果视频 where he spent the last two years in partnership at the Chimo Building Center there. He has more than eleven years experience in the building supply trade.
30 years ago, Thursday November 7, 1985:
Halloween Vandalism鈥� The Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute was one of the hardest hit areas in Neepawa as a result of Halloween vandalism. Students at the school are 鈥渆mbarrassed鈥� and upset with the few who committed the vandalism. Elsewhere, in Eden, the school suffered $600 damage to the windows. RCMP are continuing their investigation.
20 years ago, Monday November 7, 1995:
It wasn鈥檛 eggs-actly the shootout at the OK Corral, but an egg war on Mountain Avenue may have kept Halloween revelers from indulging in more serious pranks.
Neepawa RCMP detachment Sergeant Wayne Jacobsen said the 10 pm egg war between high school students dressed in orange and black toques likely helped curb Halloween vandalism.
鈥淓xcept for a couple of eggs thrown at the Town Hall and one apartment building, Halloween night was very quiet,鈥� said Jacobsen. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a tribute to our kids [in the community] that there are no serious incidents to report.
10 years ago, Monday November 7, 2005:
Two Neepawa junior high students received automatic 60-day suspensions after they were caught in possession of illegal drugs.
The suspensions are part of Beautiful Plains School Division鈥檚 multi-pronged approach to deal with drug and alcohol use, superintendent Ray Derksen said.
鈥淥ur policy is clear that students who are caught even possessing an illegal substance will receive a 60-day suspension,鈥� Derksen said.
