Rivers 50+ Club met on Nov. 19 with 19 members present; president Adrienne Beaudin asked members to sing O Canada. Guest speaker was Murray Smith from Keystone Hearing Aid Centre, Brandon; he gave an informative presentation.
Hugh Depencier has resigned as games chairperson but he will stay on to help with games. A Westman Games meeting in Shoal Lake on Nov. 30 will be attended by Adrienne, Hugh and Ken Young. Finishing of the floor curling surface will be delayed until a later date. On Nov. 13 we had a very enjoyable potluck luncheon and afternoon of games, attended by 22 members; another lunch and games will be held Jan. 29.
On Oct. 21 we turned over $2,000 to Rivers Health Action Committee, which was pledged several years ago in regards to the hospital renovation project.
We planned a work bee for Nov. 24 to decorate the clubroom for Christmas. Three quotes were presented for our Christmas noon meal on Dec. 17; West Avenue Steakhouse and Lounge was $15.97, Shelley Mom鈥檚 Kitchen was $16 and The HoneyHouse Bakery and Caf茅 was $17. We accepted the Honey House quote because it was the preferred menu and we have used Shelley鈥檚 Mom for past two years. The meal will be followed by a concert; the concert committee consists of Percy Rosamond, Adrienne and Ken.
A unanimous vote determined we would not rent the club room on Christmas day, as requested by a local family with young children involved. We are concerned about damage to our games equipment.
