November was a quiet month with only 39 calls for Rivers Police Service. On the morning of Nov. 1 vandals damaged three vehicles by smashing windows with pumpkins; police have no suspects at this time. Anyone with more information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or Rivers Police, 204-328-7430.
There were no violent crimes last month but there were eight property crimes: three damages and five thefts under $5,000. Four frauds were reported and three public mischief (the pumpkin incident mentioned in the opening paragraph). Considering there were 91 cases in 2015 (to end of October) in Criminal Code categories, the 12 files opened in November are above the average of nine.
Traffic statistics were very quiet with no federal charges, one provincial (speeding) and one accident. The 11-month total traffic calls are 95 so to have only two needs last month is terrific traffic!
Liquor and Gaming Control Act and Intoxicated Persons Detention Act (IPDA) was also very quiet with no offences in alcohol and only one IDPA; to date in 2015 there have been 13 cases in these categories.
Police also had recess from enforcing four bylaws (nuisance, animal control, burning and traffic ); in the past we鈥檝e been needed 38 times for these bylaws.
Rivers Police Service assisted the public five times, other agencies twice and RCMP in the former RM of Daly twice. Activity in the former RM was quiet last month; our year-to-date total of calls to Daly is now 45; total calls for assist is 108.
Miscellaneous statistics now total 264, or an average of 24 each month, which makes November鈥檚 total of 15 a remarkable decline. There was one community relation, two missing persons (both located), one alarm, three noisy parties/disturbances, one found property, one firearm turned in and six miscellaneous, which includes unfounded complaints. The miscellaneous category in the miscellaneous heading averaged 14.5 calls each month so six cases in November is yet another remarkable decline.
