St. James鈥 Anglican Church鈥檚 annual pancake and sausage supper was held Tuesday, Feb. 9. It was enjoyed by a large attendance of people, including little ones and a two-week old baby girl, new daughter of Chris and Sarah Belcher (nee Frank).
The Shrove Tuesday pancake flippers were Harvey Wood, Glenn Maguire and Tom Ryall; Henry Lepp did the mixing and sausages were self-serve. Tea and coffee pourers were McGee Smith and Peter Mellings. Everyone was welcomed at the basement entrance by either Gordon or Lois Allen, who took turns collecting the small food fee.
Normally this supper is an all-male worker event but since there was a shortage of men, the gap was filled by Lois Allen, Jean Ryall and Marion Maguire, who helped where needed. Rev. Sally Carter (dean) asked the blessing.
Pancake lovers always enjoy a variety of available toppings. This year鈥檚 diners could choose from among blueberries, raspberry-rhubarb, cherries, apple creme and whipped creme, as well as the traditional syrup.
Paul and Jean Curtis, formerly of St. James鈥 parish, came from Brandon. Jean remarked, 鈥淚t鈥檚 like coming home.鈥 Paul visited the kitchen where he cheerfully went to work washing dishes.
