In total, the Victoria’s Quilts Canada St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser served lunch to 170 people, although Daphne Hall, one of the organizers, said that many others bought tickets in order to support the organization. Hall said of the turn out, “It was wonderful, we had so much support, we were overwhelmed... I can’t believe the support from the community.”

The money raised will help fund the program, which provides hand made quilts to those who have been diagnosed with cancer.  Hall explained, “You feel so helpless when someone is diagnosed, [through the quilts], we can reach out and help them.”  In 2015, the Neepawa chapter distributed 81 quilts across ˮƵ and 2016 is looking to be an even bigger year. Hall said that to date, they have had 25 requests for quilts.

Hall said they didn’t want to just ask for money, but wanted to raise it through an event. She added that the success of the event wouldn’t have been possible without the “overwhelming support of the community”.
