Rivers 50 Plus Club met on March 24 with president Ken Young in the chair and 20 members present; two new members have joined us. Games co-ordinator Wayne Brown reported members have been busy taking part in regional games. They played whist in Hamiota, floor curling in Birtle, cribbage in Newdale, darts in Rapid City, spades in Elkhorn, floor shuffle in Hamiota and pool in Neepawa.

On March 3 Rivers hosted a shuffle board tournament with eight teams participating. On March 31 we will be hosting the North/South carpet bowling; another eight teams are expected. Any members not donating food for lunch are asked to make a monetary donation. Hugh Depencier has offered to lead players in card games on the second and fourth Mondays of each month; crib will be played on the first and third Mondays. Other club games are going well.

Ken asked for a volunteer to replace him in leading singing at the personal care home; to date no one has offered.

Olive Johns thanked the club for the get well card she received; it was nice to see her back at our meeting. A thank-you card was received from the committee of the 水果视频 Junior Canola Curling held in Rivers last January, for the 48 dozen muffins our members donated.

Brockie Donovan Funeral Services is making a presentation at Rivers Legion Hall on Tuesday, April 12. As a noon lunch will be served, if you wish to attend please phone 204-727-0694 by Saturday, April 9.

We received a $250 grant through CN Railroaders in the Community Program. If you are a spouse of a CN employee, you could apply, if you volunteered 40 hours a year to an eligible charitable organization. Myrtle Wooldridge, wife of the late Glen Wooldridge who worked for CN from 1951-86, filled out the necessary forms.

Information sheets titled 鈥10 Tips to Help You Live Longer, Stay Young at Heart and Healthy in Body鈥 were available to read.

Eight members were served dessert at the birthday table, which was attractively presented with an Easter theme. Our next meeting is April 21 at 2 p.m.
