The Bell Lumber Company show window has been a great centre of attraction this week. On display were the birdhouses entered in the contest the store sponsored and the production of the boys and girls showed ingenuity in design and careful workmanship in assemblage of materials.

Monday, April 5 will be a day to remember, possibly more than any other day, for Neepawa鈥檚 Kemmie Frampton. On this night, about 160 people came to honor Kemmie as an outstanding citizen, outstanding writer and probably more as a close and true friend.

Mayor Hurrell presented Kem with a certificate making him an honorary citizen of Neepawa, but probably the greatest honor bestowed upon Kem was the unveiling of a beautiful trophy, which will be placed in Neepawa鈥檚 Hall of Fame and presented annually to the top local male and female athletes.

John Robert Butler suffered head and chest lacerations, as well as a knife wound to the leg after a 15-minute beating at the hands of a 15-year-old Minnedosa youth.

The beating took place at Butler鈥檚 Neepawa apartment above Technology Plus on March 24.

The young offender appeared in a Brandon Court two weeks ago, where he was released into the custody of his parents.

In addition to being charged with aggravated assault, the youth faces additional charges of possession of a weapon during the commission of an offence and assault with a weapon.

Dauphin 鈥 Swan River 鈥 Marquette MP Inky Mark says he doesn鈥檛 believe politics played a role when Neepawa was shut out in the latest round of infrastructure funding.

But he believes politics may play a role in getting the town鈥檚 application approved.

鈥淣ow that we鈥檙e [Conservatives] in government, we鈥檒l have input,鈥 Mark said. 鈥淚 think the next allotment after the budget is passed should have some good news for Neepawa.鈥
