RM of Oakview, June 28:

Additional gravel at Rapid City landfill is to be hauled in as soon as possible. Concern with people removing wastes from that landfill was brought to the attention of council. Wind damaged shingles on the Oak River municipal shop; the insurance company will be notified.

Wrey Vickery & Sons Construction was hired to complete the K. Kelso approach in Lot 16 Plan 216 from the Rapid City landfill access road. Tendering for upgrades at Rapid City waterplant will start now; the borrowing bylaw was given approval by the municipal board. Concerns expressed at Oak River鈥檚 lift station were brought to the attention of council. 水果视频 Water Services Board has been requested for funding for a back-up generator. Notification if power goes out at the water plant was discussed. Of three applications received, council hired Billy Jack Hinsburg as the seasonal employee. RM of Saskatchewan made arrangements for CL van Veen Carpentry to build a concrete cairn for them on the former municipal office property; CL van Veen was authorized to proceed with their Nov. 2, 2014 quote. Stiles Masonry Ltd. was hired to complete repairs on the Cardale air crash cairn; a Cenotaph/Monument Restoration Program grant was received to pay for half of the Sept. 25, 2015 quote. Rapid City Reservoir and Beach Committee made application to the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program for top soil for berm, sod for berm, sand for the beach area and dock replacement. The committee鈥檚 request for washed pea gravel for the beach playground was contracted to Tasmanian Gravel, which will haul 40 cubic yards of the same. Additional picnic tables and benches will be bought for LUD of Rapid City. The Anglican Diocese of Brandon has indicated they can no longer sustain the costs to maintain Upland Cemetery and have requested Oakview to maintain it on their behalf; council authorized employees to occasionally mow the cemetery. A ratepayer鈥檚 suggestion that the municipality complete a long-term road re-construction plan was discussed. Nuisance birds ripping wastes in Cardale and an inquiry if a streetlight could be moved were brought to the attention of council; more information is to be received. Gerrard Scrap Metals will pick up metals from the waste sites. Costs to install additional municipal wells were discussed. A meeting with AMM representatives has been scheduled for Aug. 3 at 11:30 a.m. Town of Rapid City authorized Celtic Power & Machining to build eight campground fire pits, a community grill and a park bench in 2014; council authorized Celtic to complete the work.

Finances:

Rapid City Fire Department has found a suitable used truck; council was in favour of purchasing a used 2011 Ford F250 XLT Crew Cab deck truck from Saskatchewan for the negotiated price of $17,900. Suitable arrangements are being made for the delivery of the truck to Rapid City. Membership of $200 with 水果视频 Good Roads Association was renewed. Midwest Weed District was paid its levy of $25,875. Prairie Benchmark Land Surveys has completed work; they were paid $1,848 to restore a missing monument; council will apply for half the subtotal under the Survey Outline Monument Restoration Program. Richmond Surveys has completed work; they were paid $6,132 to restore a missing monument; council will apply for half the subtotal under the Survey Restoration Program. A Farmland Beaver Damage Control Program grant of $2,284 was approved. Accounts of $78,410.33 and unpaid invoices of $108,565.28 were passed for payment. Gill Farms Ltd. was paid $43,427.48 for road gravelling.
