The Virden and District Chorale organization has become very well known for its polished productions that audiences have been enjoying for many years, including most recently, Footloose, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sound of Music, Crazy for You, and Legally Blonde, due in no small part to the incredible talents of director Michelle Chyzyk.
Growing up in Neepawa, Michelle Angers knew she loved music and musical theatre, fondly remembering her mother taking her to Rainbow Stage when she was a little girl to see The Sound of Music. She was hooked, and now, as a teacher in Virden, she has produced and directed some of the best musical theatre ever seen in Westman. Michelle graduated from the Brandon University with the gold medal in Music Education. Her accomplishments are many, including being named a YWCA woman of distinction and achieving the Fort la Bosse School Division Award of Excellence for her work with school choirs and high school musical theatre. She has been active in Ë®¹ûÊÓƵ directing the VCI choir, Virden and District Youth Choir, Sweet Debut, Sound Investment, Westman Youth Choir (8 times), the Provincial Honour Choir, Polyphony, and most recently, her adult choir from Brandon, Konektis.
The Virden and District chorale is excited to announce that this year’s fall 2018 show will be the worldwide sensation Mamma Mia! The Musical, and the company was very excited to get the highly anticipated performance rights for this megahit show. Westman performers and a large crew of passionate individuals are already preparing for the shows that will take place in the beautiful AUD Theatre November 21 – 25. There are matinées scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
