New acute care facility visitor restrictions

For all acute care facilities, including acute mental health facilities, in Ë®¹ûÊÓƵ, visitor access is being suspended immediately. Visitor restrictions took effect today – March 19 – at 3 pm. Exceptions for compassionate reasons for end of life will continue to be made on a case-by-case basis but will adhere to vigilant screening.

At the discretion of individual managers, one (1) visitor may be permitted to the following areas following screening:

• Maternity

• Neonatal ICU

• Pediatrics

• Emergency Departments

• Cancer Care Programs

For pediatric patients, including the Child and Adolescent Treatment Centre, one (1) parent/guardian may visit at a time.

The following individuals should NOT visit any health care facilities. Those who have:

• Returned from international travel in the last 14 days

• Had close contact with someone with a confirmed COVID-19 case

• Had close contact with someone being tested for COVID-19 at this time

• Been instructed to self-isolate or self-monitor for 14 days

• Cold or flu like symptoms (cough, runny nose, sore throat, weakness or headache).

A reminder that the suspension of visitors to Personal Care Ë®¹ûÊÓƵs across the province remains in effect, with exceptions for compassionate reasons.
