After several years of successful lotteries, the Beautiful Plains Medical Clinic Committee is hoping to go above and beyond with this year鈥檚 fundraiser. The lottery has been edging closer and closer to a sell-out every year and that鈥檚 a very good thing. However, Mary Ellen Clark, who chairs the committee said, 鈥淲ouldn鈥檛 it be great be to sell out?鈥

Neepawa buys new fire truck

The Town of Neepawa is moving ahead with the purchase of a new fire truck. The 2016 International pumper truck has been ordered from Fort Garry Fire Trucks, based out of Winnipeg, at a cost of $399,895, before taxes. A purchase of this type for a municipality is tax exempt however, so the town will receive the cost of the taxes back at a later date.

Spring stats - Rivers Police

River Police Chief

Rivers Police Service has kicked off our annual Use Your Head campaign. This is a program that encourages elementary students to wear bike helmets. Police will be stopping elementary aged children, if they are observed wearing a helmet, and their name will be entered into  a draw for a bike, donated by Canadian Tire. Auxiliary Constable Dallas Scott has once again worked hard at putting together a number of sponsors which include Canadian Tire, McDonald鈥檚, Robins Doughnuts and Old Dutch.
