My regular time schedule to write my column is Tuesday morning and so it is this week. That means that the Super Tuesday vote in the US presidential nomination election is being held after I write this column. It鈥檚 tempting to wait and see how it turns out. But it really doesn鈥檛 matter, the whole process is a condemnation of modern day American politics.

Neepawa is a very weird place when it comes to engagement. It鈥檚 a community that on one hand is full of people who volunteer their time and talents. A local figure once said to me that it鈥檚 a town of about 4,000 people with about 5,000 volunteers. In that sense, we are not apathetic. But in terms of understanding how the decisions our local governments make affect our lives, we鈥檙e a train wreck.

The past several weeks have been tough slugging with my studies. I feel a need for frivolity coming on. For starters, I decided to practice what I teach. I encourage people who feel alone or lonely to reach out. We are not mind readers and can鈥檛 know what someone else needs.
