RM of Oakview, May 10: Metals are to be hauled out and gravel applied at both waste sites. Eight feet of 24-inch plastic culvert will be donated to Hamiota Kids Club Inc. for playground use. Cleaning up property in Basswood was discussed. An inquiry if council would consider reducing the price of the lots in Oak River subdivision was mentioned; a suggestion was received that a $10,000 rebate be given to owners who buy and build a new home there within two years. A policy is to be drafted for review.

Enns Bros., the John Deere dealership in Neepawa, has stepped up again this year to spearhead the Neepawa Airport Farming project. The Town of Neepawa rents the farmland around the airport to the project, which is jointly administered by the Neepawa Curling Club (Yellowhead Development Society-YDSI) and the Yellowhead Centre (arena and hall). The two facilities invest some cash each year for crop inputs and crop insurance and then share the profits on a 50/50 basis.

The conversation began as an inquiry about what Minnedosa can do to attract and retain doctors in order to meet the needs of the growing population in our region. What has resulted is the launch of a progressive capital project to upgrade and expand our local clinic with an eye on more aggressive recruitment in the coming years.
