Donation helps students and seniors in Rivers

The Grade 6 class at Rivers Elementary School has spent this school year volunteering, sharing and learning at Riverdale Personal Care 水果视频 (PCH). Those biweekly visits have culminated in unique relationships between youth and seniors, most notably in that the students became the teachers. When they brought the school鈥檚 iPads, residents were initially reluctant to touch them, but after the pupils demonstrated how to play games, attitudes of the elderly began to change 鈥 they embraced the technology.

Film with Neepawa connection arrives at the Roxy

The Amityville Playhouse movie will be shown at The Roxy Theatre, Neepawa on June 19-21. The red carpet will be spread out to welcome the local and area stars at the first showing on Friday, June 19th. The Roxy Theatre was the setting for this movie.

Quorum present, meeting held

Less than one-third of its current membership attended the recent meeting of Rivers and District Chamber of Commerce, but at least those 10 members present at the May 27 gathering constituted a quorum.

In 1992 my father-in-law was diagnosed with a condition which would keep him housebound for the last years of his life. He became very despondent and lost all will to live; just sitting for hours  in a chair in front of the TV waiting to die. The family tried to find something he could do which would bring him out of this depression  - we tried puzzles, paint by number art, cards and any crafts we could think of to stimulate him, to little avail.

Riverdale Municipality, May 19: Jeanette Hudon attended the meeting with Donna Morken to discuss a marketing strategy put together by Brandon University students for the Wetland Centre of Excellence. Council will allow Westman Communications, on behalf of Springland Mfg., to install an antenna on the arena with condition that engineered plans be submitted for approval and that Springland cover all costs associated with installation, equipment, future upgrades or maintenance; Springland will also be responsible for a portion of hydro, negotiated by agreement prior to commencement of the work.
