Riverdale Municipality, March 24: Warren Smallwood attended the meeting to discuss the possibility of having a master鈥檚 student from Brandon University use the lagoon as a project for a thesis study; all existing lagoon studies are available for review at the municipal office. Trees on Quebec Street that were trimmed by 水果视频 Hydro鈥檚 contract will need to be removed; trees are leaning and roots are pushing up the sidewalk. Hydro will be contacted for costs and damages. Council agrees to a 50 per cent settlement on the liability claim with 水果视频 Public Insurance for damages to a vehicle by a mower blade plate. A bylaw to establish a Recreation & Youth Development Reserve passed first and second readings. Mayor Todd Gill discussed moving forward with a plan to close a portion of Sioux Lane to allow for the transfer of land and proper access for residents.
Neepawa Council approves CN property rezoning

Another hurdle has been cleared in the effort to redevelop the former C.N. Rail property in Neepawa. On Tuesday, Apr. 7, council approved second and third reading of a by-law to amend the zoning of the 42 acres near the intersection of Highways five and sixteen. The land has now been rezoned to allow for the construction of residential single family dwellings and commercial properties.

March's month end - Rivers Police Service

Rivers Police Service had a relatively quiet month for March. I attended the elementary school and we discussed stranger danger, and what to do when approached by a stranger. I also attended a police board meeting in St. Anne, Man. and gave a small presentation on how the selection tool developed by the province worked for the chief of police position for Rivers. One file of interest was on March 2 when we were asked to attend the CN station as there was an unruly passenger on a Via Rail train. An adult male was arrested for breach of the peace and transported to Brandon.
4-H presenters preparing for provincials

South Parkland Area 4-H Council held the Zone 1 Communications Competition in Minnedosa on March 8. There were 52 members participating who were given 4-H tokens provided by South Parkland. First place in each category was awarded a trophy, provided by our various sponsors. The results of the Zone 1 public speaking competition are as follows, in order of first to third.
