Neepawa ready to help chip away at cancer

The Canadian Cancer Society wants you to hit the greens in Neepawa for a quick round of golf. The organization, in partnership with the Neepawa Golf and Country Club [NGCC] has organized the Chipping Away at Cancer tournament for Friday, June 22. The event has been organized as a four-player scramble and will raise funds that will go towards cancer research. In total, 20 teams have committed to the fundraiser, which includes a round of golf and a dinner.

The 63rd annual Brandon Traveller鈥檚 Day Parade commenced at 11:00 a.m. on the corner of 6th Street and Rosser Avenue on June 9. Coordinator, Norm Joss, said over 100 different units participated in Saturday鈥檚 event, which included floats, four marching bands, military vehicles, veteran cars and horses.

Polynesian food and culture visits Polonia

Polonia is a tiny community located in a valley part way to the top of  Riding Mountain. It boasts a fabulous view, steep forested hills, a few homes, a beautiful church and a fine community hall. On June 10, the Polonia hall was the setting for a community picnic and a fabulous supper, Polynesian style.

NWA fundraiser is on target

Clay shooting event a success

The clay targets were flying through the air recently and it was for a good cause during the Neepawa Wildlife Association鈥檚 (NWA) ninth annual clay shoot. The event, which featured over 50 shooters, was held on Sunday, June 3 and served as a fundraiser for the club. In total, just over $2,000 was raised, through a combination of registrations, sponsorships and donations.
