The Town of Neepawa held a council meeting on Tuesday, Aug 4. During the gathering Councillors received an update from 水果视频 Infrastructure and Transportation on planned upgrades to Provincial Highway 16. MIT recently informed Town administration that there will be a slight delay to the planned road surfacing from the west junction of PTH 5 to just past the east junction of Highway 5.

The second phase of a major wastewater project in Neepawa has received new federal support. On Aug. 1, Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette Member of Parliament Robert Sopuck announced infrastructure projects in the Town of Neepawa and the Rural Municipalities of Mountain, Dauphin and Harrison Park that will receive funding through the New Building Canada Plan鈥檚 Small Communities Fund.

In 1956 Wes Williams moved a building from Oak River to the west end of the 600 block of Hwy. 25 in Rivers, to augment his service station there. Several ownership and management changes ensued until 1979 when it sat empty for two years before Keith and Marg Lamb purchased the property, which is now called Tempo Place Emporium. After 34 years of business there, the couple has invested approximately $340,000 in upgrades in the last three weeks.

Rivers Police Service responded to 61 calls in July, meaning almost two cases per day. Here are the latest statistics. The fifth violent crime in seven months was dealt with last month, bringing the 2015 assault total to three cases; other violent crimes are one sexual offence and one extortion/uttering threats/etc.

There has been a lot going on at the Beautiful Plains Museum this past month! We had Krista Mills, Britney Weber, Zoey Black and Ariel Neufeld, four Brandon University (BU) Rural Museum Archaeological Outreach students, examining our Aboriginal artifacts. The students are doing the work as a senior level 鈥渓earning by experience鈥� course under the supervision of Dr. Mary Malainey from the BU Department of Anthropology and Mr. Gord Hill, who is the 水果视频 Archaeological Society (MAS) Public Outreach Coordinator.
