Right in the centre - Crime needs to be curbed

I am a regular reader of newspapers and news websites. No surprise there, I guess. When I scan the news, what does surprise me, and I am certain surprises others, is how much arson, theft, assault and murder takes place. It is even more surprising that often the culprits have very long records. Why are we subjected to the tyranny of highly active repeat offenders?

I don鈥檛 believe there has been a nastier time in politics and that applies to all levels.

The US political scene spirals ever downward with each passing day. Donald Trump has been convicted on 34 charges but rest assured he will appeal the ruling. It remains to be seen when all these charges and many others will come crashing down on him. In the meantime, the court case has proven to be a huge fundraiser incentive for him.  It鈥檚 reported that his fund-raising web site crashed from over subscribing within minutes of the court decisions on the 34 cases.

Many decades of reading, observing and writing has caused me to be very interested in many topics. It has also taught me to question just about everything and I don鈥檛 mean in a cynical or nasty way. I just think it鈥檚 good to question just about everything you see, read or hear.

Right in the centre - Things my home town taught me

I was born at Holland, 水果视频 in 1948 in the Holland Nursing 水果视频. In today鈥檚 environment, that will sound strange but in that era, the Holland Nursing 水果视频 was a house with three or four beds and Dr. Ostapovich and his nurse wife lived right across the street. While I am sure that the privately owned nursing home dealt with many different cases, it was where expectant mothers went to await the birth of their babies when home birthing wasn鈥檛 available.

My first encounter with a government edict to eradicate something was in 1971 in my first year as an Ag-rep with the 水果视频 Department of Agriculture (MDA). The enemy to be eradicated in 1971 was an old one, Leafy Spurge. I say an old one because, Leafy Spurge was introduced to Canada in the early 1800s coming into the country as a contaminant in imported seed.
