I have often pondered about laws and traditions around the Christian church.
In 1906, Canada鈥檚 parliament passed The Lord鈥檚 Day Act which was intended to protect Sunday as a day of worship and rest. The law was struck down by a 6-0 vote of the Supreme Court in 1985.
Christian churches still hold worship and instruction services mainly on Sunday mornings. In comparison to 1906, or even 1985, attendance is down, way down across the land. Many church buildings have been torn down, burned or re-purposed.

I find it quite amazing, and even annoying, that the limited amount of history we are taught often doesn鈥檛 really hold a candle to the truth. We are told that the Indigenous people and the Metis were conservation oriented, keepers of the land. Over the past several years, I have been in hospital five times and at the ER several times. My wife has been in hospital at least five times and had several visits to the ER. The hospitals include HSC Winnipeg, St. Boniface, Brandon, Neepawa, University of Kentucky, Cameron, Missouri and North Kansas City. I guess you could say we are a somewhat sickly pair but we have come through it all with thankful hearts and a lot of respect for the health care system, in general, and a lot more respect for most staff.

Last fall I wrote a column on the Progressive Conservative Party of 水果视频 and their less than enviable record for choosing how to elect a leader. When the party replaced Gary Filmon around 2000, there was a coronation of Stu Murray. In 2006, the election of Hugh McFadyen was pretty much a coronation. Then the party selected Brian Pallister in an acclaimed race. The party elite did their best to make the selection of Heather Stefanson a couple of years ago a coronation.

In just about every TV show, online story or in actual conversations, I hear way too much negativity.
