Right in the centre - Opinions are like noses

New Year鈥檚 is always a time to reflect, maybe plan ahead, contemplate changes. One thing that I have been pondering is how divided people have become on various issues. I won鈥檛 air a shopping list of issues but everybody has a list. There are tons of issues and everyone has a different list. Everyone has their preferences and that is a good thing hopefully. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one.

Right in the centre - O Come Let Us Adore Him 2022

The familar strains of the song, OCome Let U Adore Him is well know around the world. The e words and music have implored millions of listeners to come and adore the Baby Jesus and to follow him. The name Jesus means 鈥渟aviour鈥漮r 鈥渞escuer鈥.

The birth of Jesus was predicted for centuries in the Jewish faith. It also marked the end of the Old Testament, or old covenant, and the beginning of New Testament, or new covenant. Traditionally, the New Testament implores people to accept Jesus as Saviour from their sin. A person who accepts Jesus as Saviour is known as a Christian.

Every one has a title. A title, while it may not be of the royal kind, is important. As I was trying to fall asleep one night recently, I whimsically started to think of some titles I have.

Right in the centre - More rules doesn't mean better results

find it interesting that there are 10 truck loads of lava per second coming out of the Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii. Wonder what that does to warming up the atmosphere and to the carbon levels? Guess everyone has to shut down their furnaces in Canada to compensate for the Hawaii volcano.There are 1,350 active volcanoes in the world, plus a bunch more under the oceans.

When we look back through the archived pages of our newspapers, we get a bird鈥檚 eye view of how things were done over 100 years ago. Some things really stand out.

Perhaps the first thing that jumps off the pages is the lack of what we would today call 鈥減olitical correctness鈥. Opinions and humour back in the day were pretty much unbridled. There was no filter on the editors鈥 typewriters 100 or more years ago.They said whatever was on their minds and sometimes their comments very bluntly called out politicians and citizens alike.
