Each day, I’ve been taking part in the Provincial government’s COVID-19 press conferences. In conjunction with the conferences, the Province issues media releases, but here are some additional take aways from the Mar. 19 conference.

New acute care facility visitor restrictions

For all acute care facilities, including acute mental health facilities, in Ë®¹ûÊÓƵ, visitor access is being suspended immediately. Visitor restrictions took effect today – March 19 – at 3 pm. Exceptions for compassionate reasons for end of life will continue to be made on a case-by-case basis but will adhere to vigilant screening.

At the discretion of individual managers, one (1) visitor may be permitted to the following areas following screening:

Public health officials advise the number of lab-confirmed positive and presumptive positive cases in Ë®¹ûÊÓƵ remains at 17 at this time.

Public health investigations are continuing on the two additional positive cases identified yesterday.  It appears that both cases are related to travel.
