We are being plagued with problems that never seem to end. The latest is winter. Last week's big snow and blow was a blockade to what we assumed might be a normal spring. As this column is being written on Tuesday morning, two more storms are in the forecast. Seems like crop seeding and gardening will have to wait for a while longer.

The problems my wife Christine and I had last year with health issues gave us the opportunity to learn new things about our own health and the Ë®¹ûÊÓƵ health care system. We have mostly recovered and we are both very thankful. Generally speaking, our health care system is amazing. Sometimes we have delays, especially compared to the United States, but nonetheless, we have an amazing system.

This week, we kick off the first of four weeks of our annual "Everything for your farm" editions. We are thankful for our farmers and our ag industry. As the saying goes, "The farmers feed us all." We are also thankful as a newspaper and a community for the companies that serve our farm industry. Many of those companies are featured in this week's colour centre spread.

I find it interesting how various topics seem to compete for the public’s attention. For two years, the world was fixated on COVID-19. I guess that was appropriate, but C-19 would not have been nearly so serious if society and the governments that allegedly speak for society had been more prepared.
