The Neepawa Kids Choir is in full swing at ArtsForward. The choir is a chance for children between five and 11 years old to learn about singing technique, rhythm and to have fun singing together. The choir is run by Clinton Jeffrey, who has been running the group since 2017. Jeffrey says he鈥檚 been involved with music for his whole life, including participating in choirs and playing the flute and piccolo.

The expansion of the Beautiful Plains Medical Clinic is another step closer to reality. During the most recent Town of Neepawa Council meeting, councillor and Neepawa Area Development Corporation (NADCO) chair Murray Parrott provided an update on the project. He indicated that the blue prints for the proposed expansion were stamped and printed on Tuesday and that the tender process would formally begin on Friday, Mar. 9 at 5:00 p.m.

鈥淐anada Reads鈥� Event in Neepawa

The well known CBC鈥檚 鈥淐anada Reads event鈥�, which has been ongoing for 17 years, begins on March 26-29 and Neepawa will be hosting a local version of this event at the Margaret Lawrence 水果视频. Margaret 鈥淧eggy鈥� Laurence is an internationally known author, who was born in Neepawa on July 18, 1926. She lived in the house now known as the Margaret Laurence 水果视频 from the age of nine until she left to attend college in Winnipeg.
Police promotion in Rivers

Effective March 6, Bob Futrell was hired as the local chief of police. He moved to Rivers in 2005 and by 2006, he had joined Rivers Police Service as an auxiliary cadet. His occupation to that point had been an artillery reservist with Canadian Armed Forces and front line officer with the Government of 水果视频鈥檚 Security Division. The provincial appointment encompassed roles of tech officer, training officer and the second officer in charge for the Brandon/Dauphin region. After less than two years of volunteer work with Rivers Police, he was hired as a full-time constable in 2008; he is now in his 10th year of service here.
RCMP tight-lipped on death near Oak River

On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 27, Rivers Banner contacted Yellowhead RCMP for information regarding the death of a person between Oak River and Norman elevator on Feb. 26. An officer there would not comment, claiming all statements on active investigations must come from media officials.
